If one were to go to tha area, one would see where the four track area beneath the center grass mall on Conduit Blvd. it shows some subway grates. Then the grassy mall dips in it center as you head east, an indication that there is no subsurface structure.
If one heads further east to Crossbay Blvd. and observes the very straight engineered service roads leading up to and away from Crossbay Blvd on the westward side going towards Brooklyn. This is where Conduit Blvd is in the center going under Crossbay Blvd.
For most of Conduit between Crossbay and Euclid, Conduit, North and South leave a wide grassy mall for what was to be a subway.
I think the Crossbay tunnels were built at that time, in the late 1940's - early 1950's. I recall a lot of detours and road building.
Has anyone else viewed this area with a questioning eye?
