There was an exhaustive study done of all this a few years ago. I have the CD. Washington Secondary was even less justifiable. When western drivers on I-78 Jersey hit I-287, half goes north half goes south, about 8% each. And most of them work along I-287 in office parks. No critical mass to justify rail service on the Washington Secondary. It also has zero sidings for the entire length. Washington has no public transit, and its population is not like P-Burg. Hampton, Bloomsbury and Glen Gardner are just wide spots on the road. They drive and create a linear parking lot down Route 31 toward Clinton and do whatever: get on Trans Bridge, or more likely, drive to their office park. |
