The TA detested anything BMT, whether it be route designations, route names, or technology. So I am suprised that as late as 1954, when the Culver line was to be "cleansed" and given to the IND Division, they get R16's with numeric signs.

Pre-Chrystie, I don't think they had any letter signs except A and maybe S. As for A, I don't know if that was just the 50 assigned to Pitkin, or all 200.

During the 1965 (or 1966) Jamaica Yard crisis when about 40 Standards were pulled off the scrap line on the Seabeach tracks and sent to the Eastern division to displace R16's to Jamaica Yard, they did display GG. I don't know how they did that.
