There were a few R-16 with Southern Div signs. After Chrystie and the TA replaced the end destination signs with the then new route letters, the routes signs were not removed but merely turned to blank. During the week I worked the Culver shuttle, I was fortunate enough to have one of the R-16s on the north end that had the Southern Route numbers. During that week the train ran displaying 5/Culver on the end route sign along with the green SS. I could never understand why all the R-16s did not have all the BMT routes on their signs but since they were the first cars delivered to the NYCTA rather than the B of T I guess it was just a sign of the future incompetence of the NYCTA planners like not having all the possible double and single letter IND/BMT route names on the R-27s through 38s.
