After Chrystie and the TA replaced the end destination signs with the then new route letters, the routes signs were not removed but merely turned to blank. During the week I worked the Culver shuttle, I was fortunate enough to have one of the R-16s on the north end that had the Southern Route numbers. During that week the train ran displaying 5/Culver on the end route sign along with the green SS. I could never understand why all the R-16s did not have all the BMT routes on their signs but since they were the first cars delivered to the NYCTA rather than the B of T I guess it was just a sign of the future incompetence of the NYCTA planners like not having all the possible double and single letter IND/BMT route names on the R-27s through 38s. |
