Ou of how many millions?Texas has more people that qualify for yet do not receive Medicaid, which would enable them to access medical care than union members. Unions are an excellent source for high quality healthcare. Pity they're such a curiousity down there. |

Not all union contracts include employer-sponsored healthcare coverage. Large employers that have contacts with the IAM, UAW, etc., almost always do (although the employees may have co-pays and/or share in premium payments) but smaller unionized employers frequently aren't offered employer-sponsored healthcare coverage. |

The culture around moviegoing was different then. Now, if ot doesn't open with a new record, it's pulled and out on bluerY DVD in a heartbeat.Back in 1985, a successful film did tweleve weeks in theatres. If it was really big it merited a second run. A year ot two later that same film was out as a rental VHS then later by a few months at a reasonable sale price. |

Well you seem so adamant about describing how unions don't provide benefits provided elsewhere in the country through unions or their contracts in texas.Still the fact remains that union membership has a long history of providing better wages and benefits for their members, enabling what was once a robust middle class now decimated by people with hateful attitudes like yours. |

Well you seem so adamant about describing how unions don't provide benefits provided elsewhere in the country through unions or their contracts in texas. My comments were about unions in general, not just in Texas. Small shops where employees are not members of national unions like the UAW typically don't get all the benefits in their contracts that members of the larger unions have. It's a fact of life based on the financial capabilities of the employer. |

Still helped more than it harmed. Far more,Yes, unions didn't keep pace with improvements in automation either, end result being claims of "featherbedding". Had they we may not have seen such economic distress among those who once depended on manufacturing for a livelihood. |
