Better to have an extra 1/2 percent of unemployment among the poorest but greater purchasing power from everyone else.

The overall effect on demand and society is a positive one

What repair mechanics? For example, mobile ordering and mobile checkout, which will be the main beneficiaries of high minimum wage actually require less machinery to repair. The computer that tells employees which orders to prepare is unchanged while cash registers are removed. Meanwhile an automated kiosk is not more complicated than the cash register that it replaces, except for the cash-accepting module.

It mildly annoys me that I have to tell someone the order that I want for the sole purpose of him/her entering that order into a machine when I can do it myself. It's like an elevator operator in a modern push-button elevator.

without bothering to read its story, which invariably names the original source material that the reporter is writing about.

Thank you for proving the whole point. If the writer is writing ABOUT something, it's NOT news, it is OPINION. Which means YOU are doing same as all the echochamber outlets (which include the "Washington Examiner" which is NOT a news outlet, nor a newspaper, they are an online hive of "reporters", they even offered me a job) in conflating OPINION as FACT.

Then you wonder whyI say your links are worthless.

So true. The added consumer demand will help to produce jobs for those still unemployed. It's the lack of demand that has been stunting the economy, not lack of productivity or shortage of anything. Companies are sitting on cash.

LOL! News articles report on the contexts on the report put out by others. That's news! They can also add their own commentary, which would be opinion. And? Why should private employers alone be forced to subsidize insufficiently productive workers? They won't. If forced to pay workers more than what the market can bear, they'll just exit the market. Some people prefer low wages to no wages.

I think everyone should make more than $15/hour but people in the fast food industry are paid what the law requires. If they want more then they should make themselves worth more per hour. Work their way up the job ladder; for example, from the line to a team leader and eventually an assistant manager.
