What repair mechanics? For example, mobile ordering and mobile checkout, which will be the main beneficiaries of high minimum wage actually require less machinery to repair. The computer that tells employees which orders to prepare is unchanged while cash registers are removed. Meanwhile an automated kiosk is not more complicated than the cash register that it replaces, except for the cash-accepting module.

It mildly annoys me that I have to tell someone the order that I want for the sole purpose of him/her entering that order into a machine when I can do it myself. It's like an elevator operator in a modern push-button elevator.
