OK, here's the story. A true story.In 1982 I was 22 years old, and I got my then girlfriend pregnant. This was just a couple of years before I started with CTA. I was just making just barely over minimum wage. My girlfriend did not want the baby, while I did. At that time my personal feelings toward abortion was indifferent. We broke up shortly after the abortion, and my attitude at the time was that I was young, and I'll have more opportunities. Well here I am at 55 still with no children. I often feel that G-d has punished me for not doing more to stop it. But I do know that the reality is unless I was handcuffed to her 24/7, there really very little I could have done. I apologize yesterday for snapping, I thought that you as a regular subchatter knew my story. |

Many of these children born from parents who do not love each other commit crimes and grow up unloves and miserable . Just think of that, better off not born. Sad to say and comflicts with the religious teachings. No religious person could ever imagine parents who don't look after ther children. Unfortunitly it is far too common. It is the hardest part of my job as a teacher for over 20 years. The hardest by far. Looking into a childs eye and see that he has no one to trust and look after him. It leads to anger, rage and doing things to hurt oneself. many times these children have children young with someone they dont love and the cycle continues Think of that when you are against abortion. I was once against abortion, now i am not. It is the lesser of two evils Many not all of these children live lives of hell on earth |

The child that would have came into the world would have been loved greeatly by you. I feel for you that you never had another oppurtunity to have a child . I was in the same boat until 6 years ago when i had twin boys and now i also have a girl y years old. I was 23 and was not ready to have a child. Before I had a child with my wife I thought of how nice would my 10 year old boy or girl be as I took them to the ballgame, subway museume etc.Then I see the other side. Mixed up children where one parent (the mother) does not want the father around and put the children in between. Mother who uses child as tool to get back at man. My buddy is an doctor, his babies mother a super market check out slacker. Had a child, got married for the child, got divorsed and the child is failing out of school. Mixed up, does drugs etc. He loves his child but sad at the same time. As I said in previos posts. In some communities 80% children are born without committed loving parents. This leads to high rates of sadness, minor mental illness, depression and other serious issues that leads to crime, teanage preganancy and the lack of ability to trust someone. I see children at my job as a teacher of over 20 years just as empty souls, sad, depressed and confuses. I also see children from the same family that the oldest are all mixed up due to unwanted pregancy and the youngest from a committed loving relationship are NORMAL. Most criminals are form unloving homes. FYI just becasue parents are married does not make it a loving home and just because a mother is a single mother it does not make it an unloving home. It has to do with the love for the child. Many people have the chuld to try to get the man they want to stay with them and then after the man leaves, the child is the symbol for thier dispair. If the person wants an abortion, they dont want the child and thus should not have the child I think that anyone who has an abortion should have to go to mandatory counciling on responcible behavior. |

The family bond existed throughout the period . Today the family bond in some communities (subsidized communities of both races, upper class families as well) is broken. Asian families work together. build together . My mother always talks about my families early days in the USA. At first multiple families lived in one tiny apartment. They saved their money. The families TOGETHER put a down payment on a house. New familes that came to the usa all lived in the house until they got one thier feet. My grandfather rose to construction forman getting everyone a job along the way. Today ALL the grandchuldren have homes with the help of the family. Some are professionals, some laborers and some too got too comfortable an are losers. Broken familes do not. Most people need a group of committed people working together to be happy. |

No. That refers to humans once they are born alive. Nothing about fetuses in the Old Testament.Sure there is. Exodus 21:22 specifically says abortion isn't murder. The Babylonian Talmud, Sanhedrin 72b establishes that life begins when the head of a baby has emerged, and abortion may be performed up to that point to save the mother's life. |

No, I'm not.You know what an upsetting subject this is, and Italianstallion is trying to ennoble it, and I apologize if you are trying to dissociate yourself from that. The commercialization of life is morally questionable, but even if you could show this is 100% ethical and 100% honest, the picture of a high official of Planned Parenthood pleasantly discussing that they have learned to carefully preserve organs during an abortion, how they can "crush above" and "crush below" but not crush the targeted part as she proceeds to dig into her salad is callous to say the least. I'll restate what I said before: You want to deny this shows what it seems to show, because it is ugly. |

I don't understand your point. I am very disappointed at the number of abortions in the US each year. I wish no woman ever wanted to have an abortion.But if a woman decides to have an abortion, I see no problem with the fetus being used for medical research that can make us healthier in the long run. As for callousness, how should people talk when they are talking about tissue for research? I'm an actuary and a lot of my job involves using tables that predict how long people will live. When I discuss mortality rates with a colleague, am I required to say "God rest their souls" at the end of every sentence? |
