If you're bitching about gas prices now... go to Europe with some nations paying $7 a gallon. You think Oil is going to get cheaper? With China and India becoming bigger consumers of Oil. With instability in the middle east, and the FACT that Obama doesn't control the price of a barrel of oil... even if they were to build this pipeline, or more oil refineries or drill for more oil ourselves the fact is oil will get more scarce, the price of oil will always climb higher. You should put support towards hydrogen and biofuels and end support for OIL period. |

When you have a market ready vehicle that will run safely on hydrogen or bio-fuels, then we can talk. When you can convert the current US vehicles to use those fuels, then I'll be interested. I have no problem with doing any of that. My issue is that we have untold amounts of petroleum and gas off shore, east of us, west of us and even south of us.Why are we not drilling for it when other countries are? Why are we not harvesting the resources of Montana and Alaska ? Why are we allowing ourselves to be held hostage to OPEC over production quotas and why are we allowing ourselves to get caught in a bidding war for oil with China and India? Why are we so against 1 pipeline from canada that will give us some measure of relief from OPEC? Do you see any difference from the 1000+ pipelines that crisscross this country and even this city? I'd love you to answer any of those questions. |

Well when people are going apeshit over Oil, and massive money can be made off Oil, why invest in something thats the most abundant source in the universe?As for your questions...because the US cannot completely feed itself on oil. The US uses a massive 19 million barrels per day the US currently produces roughly 10 million per day. So thats a 9 million barrel shortfall, and if we even got to that level of production, and we started to cut off international oil production. Countries will run to the WTO and complain and this still wont effect the cost of a barrel of oil in the international markets. Also the US doesn't produce or have much access to the most sought after "Light Sweet Crude" |

It would also weaken Iran's position in the world because we wouldn't be so worried about his ability to disrupt middle east oil supplies and fuck up the world economy. Still waiting for an explanation as to why pumping our own oil is a bad idea. |
