If I were to accept your numbers, if we produced just 3,000,000 barrels a day that would reduce our foreign oil dependence by 1/3. If we produced 5,000,000 then it would be cut by more than 1/2. It would also weaken Iran's position in the world because we wouldn't be so worried about his ability to disrupt middle east oil supplies and fuck up the world economy. Still waiting for an explanation as to why pumping our own oil is a bad idea. |
