The purpose of marriage is to establish a "household to care for children"? OK, tens of thousands of gay and lesbian couples are already doing that, and have been for decades now. What "harm" arises out of that, given that it is well-established that children raised by gay or lesbian couples do just as well--and sometimes better--in life as children raised by heterosexual couples? On top of that, what, then is to be said of the many, many married straight couples who have no desire to ever have children? Are they, too, outside your arbitrary definition of "marriage"?

I will say this, too, for the last time: Incestuous marriages and polygamous marriages are NOT, and never have been, comparable to same-sex marriages.

Decades. I was clearly talking about "the past." If you could read, you'd see that.

In order for a gay couple to have children, they must either do so extramaritally, or through adoption. This was contrary to the social order in the past.

Are they, too, outside your arbitrary definition of "marriage"?

It is not my definition, as was made abundantly clear to you NUMEROUS times, but there is no doubt that it is the TRADITIONAL definition. You seem to want to deviate from the traditional definition, but only when it benefits you. The traditions against polygamy and such are perfectly fine with you.

I will say this, too, for the last time: Incestuous marriages and polygamous marriages are NOT, and never have been, comparable to same-sex marriages.

They certainly are comparable: They are all kinds of "non-traditional" marriages in the West.

Rabbi under fire for saying Tebow phenomenon “could lead to burning of mosques” and “bashing gays”

By Daily Mail Reporter
Last updated at 9:08 PM on 18th December 2011
First, four Long Island high school students were suspended for “Tebowing” — dropping on one knee and taking up a prayer post to mimic Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow.

Now, a rabbi says that should the Evangelical quarterback’s wins the Super Bowl for his team, Christians could use that as fuel to do “insane things, like burning mosques, bashing gays and indiscriminately banishing immigrants.”

The article, published by Rabbi Joshua Hammerman on The Jewish Week Wednesday’s website, was entitled My Problem with Tim Tebow and predicted fanatical religious chaos if he were to lead his team to Super Bowl victory.

He added: “When you combine the religion that is football with the religion that is religion, the mix can be dangerously flammable.”

Tim Tebow — called “God’s Quarterback” by fans — has become a national and viral sensation and has brought the Broncos to several incredible victories.

Hammerman’s column was posted December 14, and removed from the site later that day.

The publication pulled the article down, saying they regretted posting it and called the piece “more inciting than insightful,” USA Today reported.

Hammerman’s blog link also addresses the absence of the story, and mentions “additional reflections will be forthcoming.”

The rabbi also apologized to Tebow himself, in the form of a statement.

He wrote: “I realize the way in which I attempted to make my points was clumsy and inappropriate, calling to mind the kind of intolerance and extremism my article was intended to disparage. I sincerely apologise to Mr. Tebow, his family, the Broncos and Patriots and all those whom I have offended.”

Conservative Christians are livid at the claim, taking to the Internet to air their complaints against the rabbi’s claims.

One unidentified blogger on conservative website Human Events wrote the article was in part so offensive because the rabbi believes what he wrote. “He thinks people on the right, and Christian conservatives in particular, are capable of such violence.”

4 interceptions, 13 for 30.

This has turned into such a sad spectacle that the NFL probably has to intervene to put an end to it in order to maintain the professionality of the league.

Kinda like MLB had to intervene after the St Louis Browns sent that midget to the plate in a ticket-selling stunt in the 1940's.

See, now I have to agree with you. Tebow now has only 7 victories in the 10 games that he's been the starting QB. He's taken his team to a point where they are still in contention for a playoff spot. It's pretty obvious that he shouldn't be playing at the NFL level. You've shown that you are wise beyond your years when it comes to knowledge of the game of professional football. I am in awe.

And you know this how, exactly? He's now lost 2 games in a row. Eli Manning lost how many in a row? Denver now has a record of 8 & 7. Tebow is 7 & 3, meaning that when he took over the team they were 1 & 4. He certainly has not hurt the team.

Denver and Oakland are tied for the lead in the AFC West with 8 & 7 records. The Giants, the Jets and the Titans also have 8 & 7 records. 5 teams with 5 quarterbacks with identical records and the one quarterback that you & smaz single out for criticism is Tebow. Oddly enough, he's the one who proclaims his Christianity, openly. Could that have something to do with your criticisms? I'm just asking the question.

Two of the games were won on opposing team blunders.

As for this week, I expected Tebow to actually perform better (that he lost by 4 possessions was a big surprise). The Broncos, however, own the tiebreaker based on common games. For irony, however, Kyle Orton in Week 17 will try to stick it to the team that cut him in favor of Tebow.
