The purpose of marriage is to establish a "household to care for children"? OK, tens of thousands of gay and lesbian couples are already doing that, and have been for decades now. What "harm" arises out of that, given that it is well-established that children raised by gay or lesbian couples do just as well--and sometimes better--in life as children raised by heterosexual couples? On top of that, what, then is to be said of the many, many married straight couples who have no desire to ever have children? Are they, too, outside your arbitrary definition of "marriage"?I will say this, too, for the last time: Incestuous marriages and polygamous marriages are NOT, and never have been, comparable to same-sex marriages. |
