(though he is only half Italian, English/French on his other side). Indeed Northern Italians do resemble other (more Germanic) Europeans, and I suspect that that simply was the ancestry of these people. Whenever I've known anyone who was an Italian-born Italian, I noticed they look more like other Whites than the "Guido" Italian Americans often do. Since Southern Italians have lower IQ's, I wonder if the more successful Italians in America tend to look less Mediterranean? |

Ethiopians and others from the horn of africa have some "small" features, but I wouldn't say Caucasian. It's different. Less kinky hair, smaller lips, different eyes and larger foreheads. Once you know what they look like they are easy to pick from a crowd although most people are oblivious to this.Northern and Southern Sudanese are completely different, but the northerners aren't that different from Ethiopians, just a little lighter. They often have kinky hair, but usually less kinky than most black Africans and African Americans. Like a curly/kinky. Something that you don't see much here even with mixed race kids as their hair tends to be either more straight or kinkier. |

I heard that many light skinned black Americans that moved north to "pass" would claim to be Italian. Don't know how true that is, but I always believed it. Many people used to think that I was Italian. |

It's well known that upper class whites still have a positive birth rate but they represent such a small percentage of overall white population that it does not help national stats.People in Manhattan's elite class have continued unaffected while the working class like us have had to cut back. |

The composite is based on the center of Italy's population which is where Emilia-Romagna borders with Toscana and Marche and it is 100% accurate.Go north of there and people start looking like the Swiss gal. Go south and they'll look more like the Greek gal. Go to the center of population and they look like the person in the composite. LuchAAA's knowledge of Italy and Italians ends at the border between Franklin Square and Garden City. |

California and especially the Bay Area is where a great number of Northern Italians went to in order to buy great tracts of land for their vineyards and wineries.Many of them already had money and education and the business experience when they came here. They were "foreign investors" of sort. There is a very different immigration history in both numbers and reasons. NY Italians came almost predominantly from Southern Italy out of pure need and are darker than California ones. California ones look like Gwen Stefani or Beverly d'Angelo. NY ones look like Drea de Matteo or Marisa Tomei. |

The US population of people of Italian descent, descends from a narrow slice of Italy, mainly Sicily, Campania, Calabria, Puglia and Abruzzo.It is not representative of Italians. It's not even representative of Southern Italians who have mixed with Northerners and Central Italians in the last century. They are the descendants of Southerners of 100 or more years ago. How many times have you ever run into somebody who is of Lombard, Friulano, Umbrian, Tuscan, Ligurian, Emiliano or Piemontese descent? Americans of Italian descent don't even know where those places are even though that's where more than two-thirds of actual Italians reside. |

Once on my way to Hawaii I was on a layover at LAX and I had a conversation with a particularly hot youngish (about 30) Italian lady. She was a restaurant owner there in Palm Springs, and she was pretty White (and had Back....) It seems that Italians in the Northeast (and perhaps Florida) are predominantly Southern Italians. Italians elsewhere in the country hail mostly from Northern Italy, it would appear. |

Yep.In Puglia, a typical woman will be a little lighter than the Greek chick. In Sicily a bit darker than the Greek. In Piemonte the typical person will look somewhat like the Swiss chick. In the Marche or the Emilia Romagna she will be a bit darker than the Piemontese and look like the composite. of course people vary everywhere but we're talking "typical" as in the composites. While I'm 100% Pugliese, the guy that I most resemble feature, hair and eye-wise is the French or Polish guy. In fact feature, hair and eye-wise I would be more like the German girl if i were female. I had super-blonde hair until about age 5. Not just sandy blonde but more like Norwegian-blonde. Go figure. |
