I haven't been to one, but maybe he has a point. I wouldn't take my kids to an overtly sexual parade whether straight or gay and from what I've seen "overtly sexual" is a big part of gay events. Perhaps that's one reason why gays aren't welcome in the St. Patrick's Day Parade. |

I've marched in every NYC Heritage of Pride Parade since 2000, and I have yet to see an inappropriate display of sexual behavior on Fifth Avenue. If you're referring to the revealing outfits worn by many of the participants, I would remind you that several other parades in NYC also feature people just as scantily clad.I have yet to see people "grinding" in Speedos as they march along Fifth Avenue, in the largest LGBT parade on Earth. If the fact that Pride Parades are a celebration of LGBT culture is "overtly sexual" to you, then I suggest you stay away from anything created by gays anbd lesbians. We wouldn't want to "brainwash" your kids into thinking being gay is OK, would we? BTW, gays are unwelcome in the Fifth Avenue St. Patrick's Day Parade, because we are gay, not because of any "overt sexuality" we might "display". |

If you are referring to the man in the red Speedos on the float, you can see the exact same thing on any beach in NYC where men wear tight swimsuits. You can also see men wearing clothing just as tight in other NYC parades.Where is the "overt sexuality" you are referring to? I see no inappropriately sexual behavior in this video at all. |

I did use a disclaimers that he might have a point and that I haven't been to a gay pride parade. If he is making stuff up then he is just plain wrong. But my guess is that you are just used to seeing such behavior because you attend so many gay events around the country. For prudes like me they can be pretty shocking.Take Mardi Gras and the WeHo Halloween Parade for example. At Mardi Gras there is all kinds of wild behavior and Bourbon Street is no place for kids at night. But aside from a few chicks lifting their tops for beads, which you can mostly avoid if you want, there's not much sexual. Except for the gays. They walk around Bourbon Street in leather chaps with their asses completely exposed (no straight chicks do anything like this) or in thongs that leave little to the imagination. There is not much "sex" that I saw, but I didn't hang around that end of Bourbon Street much. I haven't been to the WeHo Parade, but I did see a participant on the bus last year the day after the parade. By all apperances he was practically naked. Maybe these are the exceptions and the gay pride parades are nothing like this. I dunno. |

It was the 4 bus in WeHo and was full of Hispanics and older Russians at around 10 am the next day after the Halloween event (probably LA's biggest annual street party). This young Asian dude wearing - I don't know what you would call it. Think of maybe the bottom of Peter Pan's shirt with the pointy bits. He had made a skirt that kind of looked like that. It covered about 2/3 of his butt. Other than that he had on no shoes, shirt, or anything else. Really he looked kind of uncomfortable and the older ladies were smiling at him. |

And the people "showing their tops" on occasion aren't walking around like that. And Easy is right, at the extreme upper end of Bourbon St is the gay section, and many of the people walking to that end of Bourbon St through the regular part of Bourbon St are dressed in speedos or tight leather and nothing else. Paladino seems to think that inapproriate displays between men and women, and even between women and animals, are fine (based on the emails he sends around), but not between men and men. Please provide proof of this claim. |

Neither Mardi Gras nor the WeHo Halloween (big street festival in West Hollywood, a very gay friendly city) are technically "gay" events, but they are at least gay friendly. Mardi Gras is mostly straight with plenty of gays and Halloween is mostly gay with plenty of straights. |
