Sad but true. Thats one reason abortion should stay legal. Keeps the "backalley butchers" out of business. Its bad enough that they are killing their babies, no point in killing the mother. She'll answer for her deeds in the next life.

"And yet thousands of people whose hearts have stopped beating have gone on to live for years longer."

Thats entirely different. A heart stopped deliberately for a lifesaving procedure is much different than stopping a heart for ending life.

No, not a heart stopped deliberately. Hearts which have stopped due to natural causes can be revived in some circumstances. It’s what CPR does and why the term “clinically dead” exists. But to your point about deliberately stopping the heart to save the life, how is it saving a life if you’re purposely stopping the very vessel of human life? That’s because the heart is not the vessel of human life, human individuality or human identity.

Also, if Siamese twins share a heart, are they one person? Clearly not.

The terrible part is the number of people that agree that a fetus is a baby but are still pro-choice. I can’t wrap my brain around that.

A person can think a fetus is a baby and also realize that other people have valid reasons for believing differently.

According to Wikipedia:
A newly developing human is typically referred to as an embryo until the ninth week after conception, when it is then referred to as a fetus.

According to the LA Times:
In November 1972, Blackmun sent his colleagues a near-final draft of his opinion that concluded abortions should be legal through the first three months. “This is arbitrary, but perhaps any other selected point, such as quickening or viability, is equally arbitrary,” he said.

Two other justices sent back memos suggesting the legal cut-off should be at the “point of viability,” which comes between the 24th and 28th week of a pregnancy. With no further discussion, Blackmun changed the final opinion to say abortions may not be restricted prior to viability.

First off, I'm not trying to make you believe in anything. That said...

"...ancient fantasy literature"

I'll assume you're referring to the Bible

"So why not believe in Zeus?"

Comparing believing in Zeus to the Bible is an apples an oranges comparison. The Bible was written by inspired men believing that the hand of God guided the hands and mind of the authors.
I didnt get the Zeus reference comparing or how is sizes up to Biblical passages.

Jeremiah 1:5

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew[a] you,
before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

OK, so God knew Jeremiah even before he was a fetus. Therefore it is a reference to the spiritual side of Jeremiah and not the physical side. Therefore it says nothing relevant.

Exodus 20:13

"Thou shalt not kill"

OK, so all killing is always a sin.

Therefore when Ukrainians kill Russians to defend their families and their country, they are sinning grievously. They ought to just surrender to avoid bloodshed, right.

That’s what you believe. I certainly don’t believe that the Bible was written by inspired men, some of it must have been written by schizophrenics or people on drugs, but it’s fiction, some of it using actual historical events.

Zeus is relevant because you’re an atheist with respect to Zeus and all other gods. I just go one god further.

Anyway, this actually goes beyond the discussion of the afterlife. “God” can be defined rather broadly, so that that one can say the majesty of the universe is an aspect of “God,” but there still is no afterlife, it’s made up like the story of Adam and Steve.

No, prohibiting abortion is a civil act, though no doubt often informed by religious beliefs. This is no different from the way that prohibiting commerce on Sunday under Blue Laws is a civil act, though clearly driven by a religious belief regarding what is appropriate behavior on the Sabbath.

I get it - you don't like religion or religiously-motivated laws. That, though, is not what this Supreme Court case should be about. The sole question the Court should be addressing is if there is a "right" to abortion in the Constitution - and the answer seems to be a pretty clear "no". Following that determination, you and anyone else is free to try to convince the various legislative bodies to pass laws regarding abortion that are as strict or permissive as you believe appropriate, based on whatever methods or beliefs you hold to be correct. You are also free to mock those whose beliefs you disagree with as part of the process - though to be honest, I'm not sure if that's the best way to convince people that your views are correct...
