The judge is considering allowing her out of jail if she will not object to 5 of the deputy clerks issuing such licenses. Reasonable accomodation.

As far as I know she hasn't yet said, "I quit, now you can't make me do anything." How could a judge order her to do something in her position as County Clerk if she decided not to be County Clerk any more?

I'm sure she could still be sentenced for her past contempt of court, but she could no longer be ordered to take any action.

You're so hung up in your GOP you keep failing to get the point here. A county clerk cannot refuse to carry out a lawful procedure that they're responsible for carrying out. She's also in contempt of court having exhausted all of her redresses and still refuses to follow the law. If you have issues with doing your job, you move on to another one.

You're defending a lawbreaker because she's one of yours.

The law has been laid down and she has no business to say no to anyone regardless of what's her personal beliefs. Either transfer her to another department or send her on her way. She's entitled to her beliefs but not if it infringes on someone else's or is in contravention to the law.

How? She does not have the right to impose her belief on anyone else. She works in a secular government system. The secular government system functions by law, not by religious dogma. Therefore, she has no right to impose her religious belief by preventing anyone otherwise legally qualified from a marriage license on the basis of her following her chosen religious dogma.

Now, she's headed to Leavenworth. Looks like her karma really ran over her dogma.

From what is constantly being spread like manure here and on the talking lamp and blogs it's quite clear that science, logic and simple common sense give way to fear-mongering, hatred of anyone who's the least bit different and folks being goaded into doing highly destructive things to their own future for the benefit of people that absolutely hate them.
