I know this may not have been covered under the "rules of the street" where you were hanging out while the rest of us were in school, but words actually have meanings which convey information. You seem to be under the impression that any word with a negative connotation is simply an interchangeable weapon to be flung at the enemy; when you accuse me of something that you are guilty of and I turn it around and direct it at you, you accuse me of "stealing" your insult, as though it were a weapon you called dibs on rather than a word that has an actual definition that describes something true of you but not of me. But racism IS fundamental to conservatism because Nixon's southern strategy was fundamentally built on exploiting racism after the Civil Rights Act in The South for his political gain. He rode that strategy to victory and his disciples have been using it ever since to guarantee conservatives have a lock on the south. Modern conservatism owes its existence to racism, and conservatives are thus racists as they are the engine which guarantees the political arrangement founded in racism continues to plod onward. |
