Of that total 10 were killed in incidents related to Police in some way (at least one of which was a hostage situation that went south.)that is 0.07% In the time span I took those names from, 25 blacks were killed by people other than cops, and 3 were killed by cops (one of which was the aforementioned hostage situation). So for every one killed by cops, 8 were killed by someone else. Since 2000, 4,577 black people were killed in LA county. Of those 162 were killed in incidents related to the police. that is 0.03% over 14 years. All this information comes from the LA Times' fascinating "Homicide report" system. By the way, if you anyone says they have a hard time with the cops in LA, it's the Latino community. 296 killed by the cops, regardless of the circumstances, in the same time the Black community saw 162 die. So that's nearly double. You going to keep telling me "your" problem is the cops? Looks to me like your problem is everyone and anyone BUT the cops. |

My life has been sent SOLVING problems, rather than creating them or whipping them up even worse. I want to see kids live to see the judge rather than being chokeholded, shot, or hung. That is what differentiates our nation from the Caliphate.There's a lot of kids out there who have NO idea of what dealing with cops is like until they make the wrong move. I want to see that END. There are bad actors, there are bad cops. My relatives have seen both sides. Like you said earlier, your gramps and your dad never had to explain why their bullet count wasn't what was issued. They're DAMNED lucky and obviously well trained, as is normal in New York. It is NOT however in many other places, and assholes like Paul Blart, mall cop actually GET badges and weapons and then go out like cowboys in a shooting gallery. Just because New York goes out of its way to properly train and properly RESTRAIN doesn't mean it's like that elsewhere. ALL of my friends and relatives cringed HARD when they saw what those assholes in Ferguson did, from the very first incident all the way through how things were handled. Missouri is DAMNED lucky that Captain Ronald Johnson was not only a GOOD cop, but an EXCELLENT cop and skilled leader and got right at cleaning up the mess. Until the assholes went and started that shit up all over again. We NEED more Ronald Johnsons out there ... and DAMNED fast. |

"The excessive use of force by law enforcement officials against racial and ethnic minorities is an ongoing issue of concern and particularly in light of the shooting of Michael Brown," said Amir, an expert from Algeria. "This is not an isolated event and illustrates a bigger problem in the United States, such as racial bias among law enforcement officials, the lack of proper implementation of rules and regulations governing the use of force, and the inadequacy of training of law enforcement officials." The panel of 18 independent experts grilled a senior U.S. delegation on Aug. 13 about what they said was persistent racial discrimination against African-Americans and other minorities, including within the criminal justice system. And here I agree ... there ARE bad cops. LAPD has shown that they have too many cowboys who shouldn't have gotten a badge in the first place. And all across the country, there's even more of them. Fortunately, for those of us in New York, bad experiences have enforced proper training and putting bad cops on the rubber gun squad where they can't hurt anybody.But not so elsewhere. And folks, like I'm constantly repeating myself with, need to learn what NOT to do in a cop's face or they might end up dead too. I want THAT stopped. |
