A "New York Eviction" just bypasses all that troublesome lease or housing court nonsense. I once had a landlady who could evict a tenant in 24 hours if they were just one day late with the rent. She would pick up the phone, dial 911, and say "I think my tenant in Apartment so-and-so is selling drugs and guns."The cops would come, roust the tenant, and by the time the tenant got out of Central Booking, his/her stuff was piled up on the street, and the locks changed. Illegal eviction, you say? Ol' Ms. Thing was prepared for that, too...she just said she believed her life and property to be in danger from her evil gun-running, drug selling tenant... As for your comment, "It should be legal to rent or sell your house to whoever you want to IMO", does this mean you're OK with landlords or realtors refusing to rent or sell to Blacks, Asians, or other minorities, too? |
