After the Bernhard Goetz incident, which is nothing like this since he was doing nothing wrong riding the subway, President Reagan said he understood that people snap under duress with violence, but if we all acted out of vigilantism, we'd have chaos.

Suffice it to say, Rittenhouse does not get a pass, and he had no business traveling there other than to play cop and make trouble.
