My understanding is that unless we're driving we only have to give our name, not ID. But it's important to know that it doesn't end there. If they suspect that you committed a crime, they would very likely put cuffs on until they can verify that information and/or take you in while that process plays out. So there can very well be circumstances when it's very much to your advantage to show an ID. |
