I dsagree. I' worked in a bank once as a 'on call seasonal' reconciliator working on NYS tax deposit accounts. I was paid the equivalent of $42,000/yr had the job been full time with no benefits. The permanent full time people were paid $12,000 to start with benefits, full medical dental and vision. The management usually hird young single parrents with some college because thye were excellent workers, would show up and they helped each and every one of them get the maximum EITC every year. ("Your taxes done by us" was another "benefit")

They were gaming labor and tax law and "pretending" it was a benefit in order to pay starvation wages. The total value of their compensation was noting compared to what they were paying me, although I worked 2 out of 3 months. Yes, I never worked ore than eleven weeks continuous when I was there.

I doubt they are the only employer doing this.
