The minimum wage is one of the important supports FOR a private economy. Were it not for what should be a guaranteed living wage through law, the outcry to socialize and ensure a living wage would be tremendous.

A guaranteed minimum income makes that moot. People would be able to live without work. This would make low wage jobs impossible as no one would bother to take them.
