I really doubt if they'll get a courtesy pass.Transit workers are treated like sh** anyway by the city. NYPD has privileged parking spots, so does FDNY, so do teachers by their schools. Transit worker parking by reporting terminals and bus depots? You got to be kidding. When you start and finish at odd hours, taking public transportation is not feasible, especially for those who live far away w/o seniority who would need multiple connections of trains/buses. Glad I'm retired so I don't have to deal with that anymore. |

I have seen cars parked in bus stops with placards reading “NYCTA Dispatcher On Duty” usually used by surface dispatchers whose post is at that stop. One of my co workers actually got a ticket for parking an official marked NYCTA vehicle in a bus stop across from 370 Jay St. There was also a story about a Chicago cop who wanted to ticket a CTA bus that was stopped in a bus stop waiting for the operator’s relief. The stop was actually in front of the bus depot and the cop was arguing with the dispatcher claiming the bus didn't have the right to park in the bus stop evn though it was a bus. |

Also, if it's an official Police business placard, which is different than a parking placard, you're not going to get anywhere, be it PAPD, NYPD, NYSP, MTAPD, well you get the picture. If they are on Official Police business, they park where they park. Ray Kelly was the only one who tried doing something about it, and then he was told by the other agencies to cut the shit when it comes to that vehicles, or else. So then he had no one but the NYPD to bully and only they would get towed, ticketed, and the members disciplined. But now that he's out, nothing is going on. |

It is no guarantee a vest will be accepted at a parking meter. On the #1 line recently a community activist made a stink over the train service people parking on Broadway at the meters all day with the vest in the window. Then they all got tickets. Cops can do the same thing and get away with it. We are all under the same pension system. Where a #1 employee can park between 4 and 5AM up there is beyond me. They are walking targets for muggers since they have to walk so far to the station at that hour. This is why we should have designated parking for transit workers at terminals. Parking is mostly non existent in yard for "my people". |

Because NYPD "closes" these 311 complaints by claiming they "took action" or "observed no evidence of violation" even though the violation of the Traffic Rules AND the Patrol Guide exists - - it is a felony (Offering/Filing A False Instrument in the First Degree) for an NYPD MOS to clearly file a fraudulent 311 response to a civilian complaint. |

I see the last paragraph is yet a perfect example of the media's ignorance. The unmarked police car was obviously manned, so he was acting in his official capacity. Layman don't realize that active police, and sometimes fire and EMS are exempt from certain traffic laws, when they around the clock, including the use of seatbelts and calling on the cell phone. The reporter approaching the car would be like a reporter approaching a highway police vehicle in the medium of the Belt Parkway because cause I'm supposed to be parked there. The cop drove away because he couldn't be bothered with the media bullshit and I don't blame him, I would have done the same thing! |
