The duration of "expeditiously" is not defined by the law, except pertaining to double parked commercial vehicles in 4-08(f)(1) (30 minutes). |

It was all over the news. sorry your dad had to learn the hard way but inmy opinion it is a good thing. I never block a bus stop when I drive but have been on a bus many times and had to wait for someone who did. they should have camera's on all buses to nab 100% of people who block bus stops. I drive far more often then i take the bus. It is just fair |

This is unofficially what happens to any TEA who tickets a PO's illegally parked private vehicle.So that's why it's very common to see cars parked overnight in bus stops or in front of hydrants with a placard in the windshield. Never mind that the placard is ONLY to be used on official, on-duty police business within the jurisdiction of the precinct shown on the placard. There's a PO who lives on my block who routine parks his/her car in a bus stop, in front of a hydrant or in violation of ASP rules. When the car is actually parked legally- surprise!- the placard is not displayed. At one BBQ hosted by a retired cop where many attendees were active and retired cops, a lot of them said that a main reason they joined the NYPD was so that they could park anywhere in the city- at least till they bought the house on Long Island- and would be allowed to speed and run red lights off-duty nationwide with impunity. Just flash that PBA card. Isn't is great how the NYPD protects its own and PUNISHES traffic agents for ticketing illegally parked vehicles whose owners misuse their credentials for this purpose? |

Once while waiting for the Q112 at the first stop heading towards Jamaica. One asshole of a driver intentionally blocked the bus stop for whatever reason (probably waiting to pick up somebody off of the (A) train), and when the Q112 arrived at the bus stop to pick up passengers, the bus honked and the people were telling her to move but she just stayed there and started laughing at us. The bus driver eventually picked up all of the passengers after waiting 2 minutes, but had to back up a bit so he wouldn't hit the car as he pulled out of the stop as she still laughed at us. |
