Yes, a route like the QM11 where the trip can be made by subway should be ridden of. The QM1 has recently increased its schedule but further tweaking should be made. I've ridden the bus and can't pinpoint whether its the unreliability or schedule that makes some buses empty. I think bi-directional service should be explored further if a market exists (I doubt it). Frankly, I'm surprised the issue is dormant in light of proposed fare increases. |

Some of those routes do not really need to be running at all, especially when, in some cases you have buses running half full or 3/4 empty on some trips.This type of service should only be operated when it is demonstrated there is sufficient demand for it to make it a seperate route from a regular all stops route. The Niagara Frontier Transit System and the NFTA since then have elected that only certain trips on established routes be run freeway or thruway express between originating suburbs and downtown Buffalo. The former 8-Main Williamsville-North Bailey Meadows designated certain inbound and outbound trips with the letter F or H with a slash through the letter, which would also appear on the front sign of the bus in red through the white letter. Inbound trips in NFT's final years as a private company ran moderately full and outbound trips were full on this route. A lot of these other express routes are to please some political hack if anything and not really perform a real service to the public. Many of these routes just waste diesel fuel. What the TA's should do before putting on an express bus is gauge the demand to see if a full load of passengers or something close to it is going to use it. By eliminating a lot of unnessary runs,the Transit Authority can save money to be used to provide a service for which THERE is a need and demand for. |

Exactly, the busses that run nearly empty must be eliminated, I'm sorry but the cost to operate them far exceeds the revenue they can create. (I know transit in general doesn't make a profit but it doesn't mean that spending can't be curbed) But that's my point, eliminating runs that aren't necessary or lines that are redundant to subway lines. Then looking at express bus routes altogether tweaking routes to improve them make them faster, eliminating low use stops, and/ or reducing their schedules. |

Take away my dear X15 and I will be forced to drive one of my low mpg vehicles with the a/c on full blast and the windows open to the New Dorp SIR station. |

No one uses it really. On one ocassion, I don't recall why but they had the 260st QM1A cover a weekend Qm4 run because no one was getting off after Main and Jewel. The QM1A to 260 st should just replace the QM4 have it run Queens Blvd to Jewel, Jewel to 73rd and continue along the current route. There's really no point in the GO 1A running on Union or having the Qm4.And would it kill MTA restructure the QM3? I mean come on, running on Northern all the way to L. Neck. Add service because people up there will use it, Combine it with the X51 west of sanford and northern and run it out of CP. Before anyone say the QM22 should be killed off, try an extension along Astoria Blvd into E. Elmhurst. Lastly, MTA needs to find a better way to run the buses other than Queens Blvd. I got on the NST QM1A around 5:10 pm one night and got off at 260th st at 7:45. |

However...remember that certain people who use express buses are UNABLE to use the subway, because where they need to go is not accessible...but the MTA has worked hard to make it HARDER to qualify for ADA paratransit services...with people who should be eligible for it being denied.What I am asking for is not for those who are scared of the subway, but for those to whom the sole impediment is being able to use the metro. |

Otherwise, you're not saying anything that wants to be heard. **And with those low ratings the SI routes got, it's no secret that Staten Islanders don't want to ride them but they're the quickest form of transport to/from Manhattan from most parts of Staten Island. |

Bxm3,11 and the QM1A. One Saturday morning I got on the 1A and had to stand. I have seen a decent amount of people on the QM2 on a Sat but its uncommon.I'm an advocate for express bus routes. I prefer taking one bus to get to the city instead of the Q30,43,46 to E (what's going on with the A/C's now? its hotter on the train then it is outside)/F or the Q79 to LIRR. I get a seat, I can sleep without worrying about someone jacking my stuff, hell I can even charge my iPod or phone if I get the right seat (I don't know if I'm supposed to do that though). But do we really need the X20? the QM23? the Bxm4A? With the latter can't we just call it an LTD cut some stops and give it to KB. Before I forget, does anyone know if the X32 is still getting scrapped? I really don't want to drive next year or take the train at 6 in the morning. |
