You have already indicated your biases toward the pedestrian.Two round trips between Yonkers and Miami, FL, one RT to NC/SC, many trips to Woodbury Premium Outlets, all by car and you say I am anti-car? You check your side and rearview mirrors to check what is going on in the back and sides of your car behind you. Since my next immediate action was to go forward, why is it relevant what is going on behind my car? And as for the checking the sides of my car, why would pedestrians be walking into the side of my car as I was moving forward unless they want to get hit? So I really do not see your point. Simple - - once you stop anywhere - - you CHECK ALL OF YOUR MIRRORS and IF NEEDED, LOOK OVER TO YOUR SIDES BEFORE YOU PROCEEED. That's in addition to checking your side mirrors before changing lanes - - as well as using your turn signals at least 100 feet prior to your intent. That's basic Driving 101. |
