Posted by andy on Sat Apr 30 23:18:40 2016 April 29, 1939 - the Bronx Whitestone Bridge is opened to traffic. Soon afterward (probably that summer0 the North Shore Bus Company's Q44 Main Street route was extended into The Bronx using the new bridge. In 1947 the route became part of the NYC Board of Transportation Queens Bus Division, today part of NYC Transit. |
