Express buses across the city have to be scheduled for a 85-90% load factor on 75% of the buses. Otherwise, there is no need to justify the extra expense of an MCI. The whole purpose was to consolidate runs to reduce the losses.I agree that some routes like the X20, X64, and QM4 are underutilized and other routes are empty on weekends but most express buses are near capacity during rush hour. The X1 is so crowded that people have to stand. I have offered many compromises including eliminating weekend express bus service (except on a handful of routes) and eliminating routes below a certain ridership threshold. However, that's not enough for the express bus haters. They want ALL express bus routes eliminated, regardless of the area it serves or its ridership. |
