They're legitimate. However, they have the false impression that I've never been on the Metro. I've seen every station on the Red and Orange lines. I've taken the Blue line to Largo. My uncle lives in Germantown, Maryland (a 20 minute drive to Shady Grove on the Red line). The Red and Orange lines are extremely overcrowded during rush hour. While vacationing in DC this past April I have to cram on an Orange line train at East Falls Church during rush hour. However, the train breezed past the traffic on the Interstate 66. And yes, a few high school kids act up on the Metro but it is not like the C train in Brooklyn or the 2 train in the Bronx. I'll reiterate that the Metro isn't perfect. I'm only saying that I prefer it over the system in my city. I prefer a system with new cars and clean stations. Is that so wrong? |

Blathering about the magical glory of Metro and it's "can't do wrong" management just sounds downright silly. I'm one of the biggest defenders of HBLR, but most of my posts don't sound like "NJT is the best and can do nothing wrong". BTW, in ten more years, the 1000s are going to be as old as the Brightliners at their current age, so their stuff will begin age too. |

Press releases on all media have revealed more insight into the "no-seat" proposal including that the "no seat" cars would only operate in short turn, so-called "gap" trains. "Gap trains" traditionally operate only on a portion of the route. In the case of the Brown line, the suggestion is to operate Belmont to the Loop only. On the Red line, operate Belmont, probably to Roosevelt and use the incline to "stage." On the Blue line, operate say Jefferson Park to UIC/Halsted and stage in the Morgan middle. The "gap train" idea gives weight to the idea that the "no seats" is not a prelude to lengthwise "bowling alley seats expected with the 5000 series. I've never seen any Breda's on the blue or green lines. Just in the yards. One in the blue line yard and one in the green. There was one in the blue line yard a couple of weeks ago for the first time in a long time. I'm not sure if it's still there. They have to get them running on the gold line first since that's where they're supposed to go. |
