Press releases on all media have revealed more insight into the "no-seat" proposal including that the "no seat" cars would only operate in short turn, so-called "gap" trains. "Gap trains" traditionally operate only on a portion of the route. In the case of the Brown line, the suggestion is to operate Belmont to the Loop only. On the Red line, operate Belmont, probably to Roosevelt and use the incline to "stage." On the Blue line, operate say Jefferson Park to UIC/Halsted and stage in the Morgan middle. The "gap train" idea gives weight to the idea that the "no seats" is not a prelude to lengthwise "bowling alley seats expected with the 5000 series.
