That's the problem right there, they don't NEED a shuttle bus, what they need is to learn how to:1) Walk from St Nicholas Avenue 2) Walk from Lexington Ave 3) Transfer from the 4 Train, or from the D to the 4 to 149th street. |

"it is indestry standard to replace subway service with shuttle busses when constuction work like this has to be done. "That's nice, but there are parallel subway stations on both sides, 2-4 blocks away depending on the station. We're talking about Lenox Ave, not Queens Blvd. Also, those other subway systems shut down overnight. It's probably rare that they would have to provide shuttle service. |

As if they don't walk from the subway station already?Keep in mind that the "2-4" blocks metric is from the existing stations on Lenox. Most of the people who get off have to walk in the direction of the other stations anyway. |

I understand it, but the media needs to accurately report it. For example, NY1 went and instead of investigating the overtime just went for the ratings and sensationalized it making the workers look bad instead of the MTA looking bad. They didn't bother to report how the MTA creates the need for OT did they? No. Instead, they just blamed the workers making the public mad @ the workers as it is all their fault and sadly even some here are following that BS which is sad since they should know better being railfans, but the fact remains it is not the workers who created the need for OT they just took it since it was available, but of course it is all their fault. Why didn't NY1 or for that matter the other media channels that report it right and say it is the MTA's fault? Well, for 1 it won't get as much ratings, or they can't sensationalize it and they are too lazy to properly report it. Sad how many including some here believe everything they see in the media :( Well, I should put an ad in the media selling a bridge at least I can profit off it. |

Inefficiency exists in all agencies - it is too bad that I did not take a picture of the brand new bike lanes that DOT painted a block away from my house last month. They are gone now - last week the top layer of asphalt was removed in preparation for new layer to be applied :(At least I don't blame the workers - they did their job |

If they want bike lanes, they *had* to be applied before the surface was ripped up. The contract requires the contractor to "restore" the pavement markings. If applied later, then the contractor could and would demand more money for doing so. And if the city did it later it would not be up to the same standard as applied by the contractor.![]() |

Cemusa is a shady, corrupt company with NYC's Commissioner of the Department of Transportation unwittingly in the palm of their hands. Cemusa and their parent company, FCC, are a scary bunch. Internal emails written by top officials have surfaced where they refer to themselves as Hitler fighting against the Allies. Who sides with Hitler? In these emails which they talk about fighting a war against the Allies, they are referring to their fight to bury a whistle-blower who is only try to protect innocent New Yorkers from having heavy panes of bus shelter glass shattering on their heads. The city is well aware of all this, the Comptroller's office wrote a scathing report about Cemusa's failures to comply with their contract. At least 14 new lawsuits have popped up in the last 12 months, since September of 2011, accusing Cemusa of cost-cutting measures that lead to collapsing bus shelters like the case where a 300 pound glass panel fell on and permanently disabled an eleven month old baby, in the Bronx. All this is pretty shocking, but even mundane issues like not having a light on in a bus shelter can be pretty scary when you are waiting for a bus at night and can make people more vulnerable to crime. Such as a robbery that took place at an unlit bus shelter, at night, at the corner of Fort Washington Ave. and 187th St., in Washington Heights. The unlit bus shelter issue is ongoing. They are reported directly to the Commissioner of DOT, 311 and Cemusa. Cemusa ignores the complaints and the city turns a blind eye. Any company that refers to themselves as Hitler and whistle-blowers as the Allies has their priorities all messed up. Cemusa simply needs to start complying with the contract that they signed and the city's safety codes. Then we will all be better off. |
