And until the early 90's, just about every one of them got off by Knickerbocker, and if not, by Wyckoff. Rarely did you see Hispanic people at Seneca, Forest, Fresh Pond, or Metro until about 1992 or so.
That peaked probably in the late 90's, as Polish began to take over during the 2000's, although Hispanics still have a presence in Ridgewood.

Personally, I would like to see them extend the L up 9th Avenue to a new three-track terminal with tail tracks. This way, the L can run more trains per hour, better serve West Midtown and riders headed for that area can stay on the L to their final destination.

I lived on N.9th and Bedford from 1992 (when we moved from Clinton Hill due to high rents) til Nov 08 when we moved on to the East Vinyl Siding section of Greenpoint up Nassau.

Even in the early oughts the L was getting nuts. We said so at some of the Community Board meetings and during the Engine 212 rallys. The L couldnt handle it, especially if the hoards got on further back on the line. Northside is like the East Village in the 80's and 90's. Yes, you are right, the hipsters are mondo annoying and entitled, etc.

When we thought we beat the waste recycling and power plant on the waterfront, we all were joyful at actually getting a waterfront park until we realized it felt too easy. Next thing you know, the zoning got changed and now there's giant azz condos built over the BEDT yards, flame cut steel site, the tour bus garage, etc.

check diehipsters.com for amusement.

From NYCsubway.org.... Bedford hasn't changed much, even the color of the pillars are the same from 20 years ago....
It is one of the dingier stations on the L line, followed only by perhaps Wilson Ave lower, and 6th Ave in my opinion.

It;s safe to say little or no L riders will transfer to the M with or without the new M pattern. Were the help comes in for the L train is that less people will abandon the M train at Wyckoff to take the L instead.

There have always been White people on every Eastern Division line. Besides the (M), the (J)had White customers heading to Woodhaven and the (L) had many white customers heading for Canarsie. Both neighborhoods were very into the '90s.

What is true is that outside of rush-hour you never/rarely would see white people on many lines particularly the (C) and the Brooklyn IRT. But during peak hours you would always see white customers on every line.

Of course. That's why that statement was ridiculous. I only defended the M, but of course, the other ones also never were non-white. The M one had me laugh the most, because north of Wyckoff, the train was just about 100% white right into the 90's, and even only then it only got a splashing of Hispanic.
The L line was fed from that northern end of the M at Myrtle/Wyckoff, and of course already had whites from Canarsie. The J was more mixed for it's whole length, but that's because the "white Neighborhood" was from about Forest parkway to 121st St.

To say any of them "had no whites" at one point is hilarious.

I have suggested 10th/Amsterdam Avenue myself for an extended L train that would include a peak-direction express on 10th avenue, with the following stops:

23rd Street (three tracks, two island platforms), can be used as a short-turn terminal, exits at 21st and 23rd streets.

33rd Street (local only on side platforms), exits at 31st and 33rd streets.

41st Street (three tracks, two island platforms), transfer to 7 if 10th Avenue station is built there, exits at 41st, 42nd and 43rd streets.

50th Street (local only on side platforms), exits at 48th and 50th streets.

57th Street (local only on side platforms), exits at 55th and 57th streets.

65th Street (local only on side platforms), exits at 64th, 65th and 66th streets.

72nd Street (three tracks, two island platforms), transfer to 1/2/3 and terminal for such a line, exits above the 1 platform at 72nd street/Broadway and a standalone exit at 75th Street.

The exits would be set up for eight-car trains, however, platforms would be for 10-12 cars in case the Eastern Division platforms are ever expanded.

If there were to be a later extension, I would be looking at these for additional stops:

86th Street (local only on side platforms), exits at 84th and 86th streets.

96th Street (three tracks, two island platforms), possible transfer to 1/2/3 via the now-closed underpass of the 96th-Broadway station, exits at 96th and 98th streets.

Cathedral Parkway (110th Street, local only on side platforms), exits at 108th and 110th streets.

116th Street-Columbia University (three tracks, two island platforms), possible terminal for the line and at least a short-turn terminal for peak-direction trains.

Yup. No one denies there were some totally non white areas that the J went through (Broadway), the M (Myrtle between Knickerbocker and Broadway), the L on some segments, and those have become a lot "whiter" over the recent years. The only criticism is was against that all the Eastern lines were "totally non white", and that couldn't be further from t he truth, the entire end of the M from Wyckoff to Metro was just abotu 100% white right into the 90's. The same with some stretches in between on the J.

My rehab plan for this station's trackside walls is to put up white panel tile like was done at Union Square (L), with the same light green border, then to turn the muriatic acid crew loose on the frieze, stand back and watch it shine. Once all the schmutz is gone, then it's touch-up time: using tile enamel (available at Pearl Paint, Canal Street, 3rd floor), randomly color some of the ceneter squares, oblongs and triangles (currently various shades of beige), Sea foam green, Kelly green, Hunter green, dark brown and light yellow. Leave about half of the tiles beige, but add additional complementary colors to it.

Not from Bedford, I wouldn't. However, if I want 6 Av I would do the G to the V....err.....G to M via 23/Ely. Man that sounds weird.

On the other hand, the B62 to the M at Marcy Ave sounds a bit more inviting now....hmm. Wonder if that would get me to W4 faster than the L or E/V (dammit, E/M) via 23/Ely?

I thought of that, though because of the Manhattan Valley it would either likely have to be cut-and-cover or an elevated line from 116 to 125. If I were able to get it to 125, I would then actually try to get it to 163 or so to give it a connection to the C there.
