When I'd stumble upon a shopping cart, I'd roll it down the sidewalk, put my ear up against my arm as it rolled across the cracks, and it sounded just like a subway train.LOL! I used to do something slimar to that w/ the shopping cart when I was younger. But I would pretend that it was an bus though, cause there was bumps in the flooring @ the supermarket I used and when the shopping cart would roll over it, it would rattle, just like an bus. To put icing on the cake, that little filp flop thing near the baby seats had ads on it! I would used to pretend that I was driving an bus though the supermarket and the food was the customers, and when the cart got unloaded I would pretend to put the parking brake on since I was going to be there a while, and change the dest sign to NIS before deadheading from where you pay at to where all the carts are lined up. If I knew as much about buses today back then, I would have done an pre tripper before I pulled my cart out lol. |

One last comment on the "shopping cart" thing before I call a (very long) night since r33 already chided in his own thing and I expect some more as the more honest among us come forward, heh. I have to blame that for a way of life I've always ended up in - speed-walking. When I start trotting, I annoyingly leave others in the dust. I blame those damned shopping carts and the spacings of the sidewalk cracks for all that. Back in MY day, we had RAPID transit and trying to get the timing of those "rail butts" to hit the proper clack-clack, I had to walk my ass off at a rather high rate of speed to match the sound of IRT back in the day! :)I think I get why kids in the city are so flabby now. (grin) |

Whether you choose to cream over a RFW, or the sight of a couple GEVOs hauling a coal drag up a hill, or amazing over an Acela clocked at 150 MPH, or choose not to be there at all, makes no difference, buddy!! I see kids all the time on the system that just light up when they see a railroad employee. There are many pics of me out there posing with little kids and I'm not even a crew member. I can just imagine the attention they get. I'll never forget an NJT C/R on a Pascack Valley train I worked who said to me that when he puts on his C/R uniform he feels like a rockstar. I dunno this kind of pride by the employees and acknowledgement by the pax makes me think us employees are more than nobodies. |
