Even if he had been pointing his camera at the yard anything that can be seen from public space is legal to photograph. The only exceptions to that rule are certain military facilities.Therefore I consider any interference by NJT employees to be unacceptable, yard or no yard. |

Interstingly, the nickname "Mickey Mouse Club" is so universally accepted, that it's even used when crews call Amtrak dock for permission to make moves in the direction of the MMC. For example, you might hear on the radio "MM-91 to Amtrak Dock, we have an engine and 2 coaches in Hudson Yard ready east going to The Club". |

A few months later I was at Harrison on PATH and a PATH Motorman, said I am not allowed to take pictures, I asked since when, but he left. 5 minutes later (It was rush hours) 2 PA Cops got off the next train and I asked them the same question, since when is it against the law, and they said it was not, but against the rules. I was not going to argue with them, so I left.since I only had a 4 hour layover at EWR between flights. I have been taking pictures at both places since I was a kid in the 50s and this never happened before. What ever happened to freedom of the press. The PATH employees and cops were correct - it is against the PATH rules to take photos/video on PATH property. This has been the rule since before 9/11/01, apparently. This is the only such possibly legal (many people surmise that it would be found illegal if taken to a court of law) rule that's in effect on a transit system in America, AFAIK. I beleive photography didn't become legal on NJT to about 2006-2007. I remember they had a photo ban in place in 2005. That is completely incorrect. It was never illegal in recent history, AFAIK. The photo permits issued were done so on a voluntary basis and were not required by law.
