I was on that same train at the same time, It had left WTC at 2:00 (14:00) and I got off at 71st to cach an R32 (R) but The (R) was an R46 so instead I got An R32 (F) and I went to coney island and I got The R160 (E) again at 6:15 at WTC. |

It was also in the midst of a short delay in service on the E & V, so it sure was a mad house at a certain end of the platform. Definitely with some quirks - I was on the F arriving in to Forest Hills (Jamaica bound) around 5:15 yesterday when I saw the R160 arriving on the Manhattan bound express track. As I looked into the 5th car (conductor's car), I saw the the overhead display and it kept displaying the next stop was Kew Gardens-Union Tpke.Maybe it still wasn't reset if the train did skip Jamaica-Van Wyck? Even if it didn't reset, it should display Forest Hills as the next stop since it's one stop behind, right? Great shots by the way! |

The name "seatless train" is a bit misleading. It is a test of a practice that has been used in other systems. The seats in the subject cars will be made so they can be folded up and locked in position. As I understand it, during rush hours only, the seats will be locked so all customers in that car will be standees, presumably increasing capacity and reducing crowding and commute times. It should neither be catagorized as a great idea nor a bad idea as it has not been tested. Let's see how it works before we make those evaluations. |
