How about the engines on novabus? Are those volvo engines? Also, are Orion buses built in america? I think that was the bus i saw on LI, it seemed to have good acceleration. Also, what is wrong with the hybrid buses? Do they break down often or something? is MCI still in buisiness? |

Nova bus is a divsion of volvo, so i guess that volvo makes the engine lol.Orion buses are built in canada. Yes the Hybrid buses break down often. There a piece of crap they can't even handle streets in SI. There nicknamed "tissueboxes" by B/O's and have crappy handling. Esp the ones at Queens Village depot there a driver's nightmare. The 6XXX hyshits are the worst. And yes of couse MCI is still in business!! The MTA is currently getting new buses from them right now. |

What type of buses is MCI producing though? Are they going to be producing the highway/express/coach type buses, or the local city type buses with two doors a side? |

MCI is making Highway/Express/coach buses for the MTA. It will look like this bus, but with an MTA paint scheme...The Orion is making the new local buses for the MTA. The new local buses that orion is making for the MTA is the VII NG bus. They haven't come into service yet but an demo bus was in town a few weeks ago. Heres an pic of the new orion bus that the MTA is buying... |

I wonder if those new orions will be POS too.Hopefully not though. And i like the fact that MCI is sticking to the traditional styling, not that crazy, ugly styling like some european bus companies use. |

Forgive me for peeing on your bus tires, but I was wondering what else can be revaled about this simulator. I love them. I actually tried downloading one today, and after all the waiting, it refused to take off. Bummer. |

"I wonder if those new orions will be POS too.Hopefully not though." I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we have a bunch of those Orion VII NG Hybrid buses in Toronto and they're garbage. Those of my colleagues who have the misfortune of driving them on a regular basis complain about them constantly. They break down often (the current record holder is one that broke down about 65 miles out of the plant, before even reaching TTC property!), the mirrors are apparently awkwardly placed, there is a lot of glare on the windshield at night, and pieces of the bus tend to fall on operators when they go over potholes (true story, happened to my colleague!). The amount I've seen on the back of tow trucks so far is astounding. |

My favorite PATH cars, and quite possibly one of my all-time favorite railcars are the 1958 K Stock, complete with air conditioning. My first ride on PATH (Dec 27, 1969 from Old Hudson Term to NWK) was aboard a train of K's - led by #1211. It is a shame that none of these were saved.wayne |

What a shame.Didn't GM make some hybrid buses too? Were they more reliable? I have a feeling these new buses use too many sensitive computer parts. Must suck, seems like the whole fleet will need a rebuild. :( |

GM used to make buses, which were the great legendary GM fishbowls. They also made the best RTS's. But GM never made an hybrid though. |

It turns out GM did make a hybrid bus:http://editorial.autos.msn.com/article.aspx?cp-documentid=435202 What is a SHAME, and a CRIME is that they say the life cycle of the buses are 12 years...LIES!!! just to make more money. There are definately flexbles in NJT's roster that are definately a LOT older than THAT. |

Oh yeah, the only reason i remembered about those buses is because i put them into my report about industry in america(and how americans turned their backs on it) a few years ago. I took a poll of people who owned american built cars, and there was only one student, SHAME. And it turns out, some fords are built in mexico, which isn't as bad as overseas, i guess...BUT some SAABs have been built in america too.Japaneese companies open up factories here, but that is political BS, the cars are merelyy assembled here, like the railcars. |

Yea most of the flexbles are 19 years old, some 20. Most of the flex's were made in 1989 but some were made in 1988.GM must have made that hybrid LF bus in the link under the radar because i never heard about it!! |

GM also installed a hybrid power system on Gillig low-floor buses; such buses in use on the Virginia Street line of the Regional Transportation Commission (Reno, NV). Conventionally-powered Gilligs are also used on this line, and that model is used by Kansas City's ATA "MAX" line. |

Oh, thanks, well, they seem to be marketted as GM buses to the lay people of buses. But how do you know they weren't built by GM? Maybe they got the license from new flyer, or did new flyer just build the bodies and frames, and GM did the motor work? Though these buses are probably not robust, since they have a 12 year life cycle. SHAME. That is a lie to make money, and also, they have such a short life probably due to a lack of frames or something. |
