You have a BAD attitude, very pessimistic there. I can change out the fiberglass bonnet, and anyone here can. You just have to be positive, you *CAN* do it.

You don't even need a one ton crane for the bonnet. You just need the torque wrench. Shame that the fiberglass bonnets need caulk, which wears away after a while. The old cars with the STEEL bonnets didn't need caulk at all.

I saw this a couple weeks ago in CIY shops, and realized the sign was phony, as the car was not hooked up to power, but the sign looked like it was dimly on. (It was just reflecting the light from the area).
The bonnet looked like crudely welded metal to me, but I didn't examine it that closely. (I guress it could have been painted with metalic spray).

I too find it funny they try to be realistic now by making it look like a 142, and not just usung 62's, when they're doing filming in a whole bunch of places the 6 doesn't run.
(Unless, as someone wondered; the movie will not be just about the 6).

It would not be too hard to put in signs that tell you the time and nxy station like the R142, 143, and 160 cars have that face each other in the middle of the car. In Albany the CDTA bought new buses with digital signs and automated anouncements, the also retro fitted all their older buses with the signs too. I would not be too hard to do.

That shouldn't make any difference. When the original Pelham 123 was shot, the 6 fleet consisted of R-17s, 26s and 28s yet the movie train was cpmposed of R-22s which seldom if ever ran on the Pelham Line (I do recall seing one in the late 1950s but I don't recall seeing any after that). Another inconsistency is that if the movie makers are going to want to be THAT accurate, then the title of the movie needs to be changed to "The Taking of Pelham 1323" since NYCT scheduling and operations now use the 24 hour (or military) clock instead of the old 12 hour AM/PM clock in use at the time of the original movie.

I recently learned that some R38s were fitted with AC propulsion for a short period, so such modifications are possible, maybe tests of new systems. Surprisingly, some of the oldest PATH cars were fitted with LED destination signs for no reason as usual, maybe a test, but nonetheless, they were there.

It may not be. There are a lot of assumptions that it will follow the same plot, but based on the amount of places taken and trains used (R-160s signed for the Q and Roosevelt Ave mockup to name a few) I have a feeling it will be very different. It can be different and still use the same name. Just look at the last Pink Panther which was absolutely nothing like any of the originals and was not even aimed for the same audience.

It has been mentioned that it would be hard to do this on R68/62 cars, since they did not come delivered with the necessary electrical equipment in their coupling (R44s and 46s always had signs that could be controlled from the cab, even before the signs were digital.)
