I recently learned that some R38s were fitted with AC propulsion for a short period, so such modifications are possible, maybe tests of new systems. Surprisingly, some of the oldest PATH cars were fitted with LED destination signs for no reason as usual, maybe a test, but nonetheless, they were there. |
