SOAC had buttons for speed control. You would press the button for the speed you did'nt want to exceed and push the controller all the way forward and the train would maintain that speed. |

He saw secret video tapes supposedly showing a limited number of individuals breaking rules. The people breaking the rules should have been given the applicable summonses. If summonses didn't stop the bad behavior, then maybe you could consider ending the trips. However, whereas he just saw some video tape, I rode many of the trips. There was no widespread disrespect for the equipment, nor widespread violations of the Rules and Regulations. The specific perps should have been dealt with first, using the available punishments, before using their behavior as one of the reasons for canceling the trips, as Selkirk states. |

Does anyone know what equipment is going to be used? If it's the D-Types I will chase for photos even if it only gets me a couple of shots...Its too bad the TM has no interest in a compromise of sorts - run the train to CI but then make one or two runs back and forth during part of the extended lunch break using the express track of the Sea Beach Line or West End for those who want to take photos.. Part of the problem is that those who don't care for the photo angle probably have thousands of photos in their collections. I started late so my only chance to build up my photo collection of these cars was during the so-called MOD trips. That's why I would chase a D-Type even for one photo of the whole consist especially now that I have an 8-megapixel camera... |

Come to think of it, he might be talking about the R9/Low-V combo trip where there was a brief lunch stop inside 207 Yard at the tail end of the Roadeo, followed by that big ol' mess with the Low-Vs trying to make it up the ramp. That seemed to be one of the more civil trips IMO, although I was kinda hanging with the same group most of the time so I'm not aware of what was going on in the other cars on the Low-Vs or in the other areas within 207 Yard. |

If it's the D-Types I will chase for photos even if it only gets me a couple of shots...I hope it's them too, since I want to RIDE them. But I don't think they've operated since they broke down at the Parade of Trains, and they might have ongoing maintenance problems. Its too bad the TM has no interest in a compromise of sorts - run the train to CI but then make one or two runs back and forth during part of the extended lunch break using the express track of the Sea Beach Line or West End for those who want to take photos.. The TM has never stated that that won't be done this summer, they just have never done it previously/recently. I'd give them a call and ask. |

A typical MOD trip would go to three or four different outer terminals and often use trackage not usually in revenue service. The Low-Vs used the Shuttle connections on both ends and the City Hall Loop. One 1/9 trip changed ends on the Jamaica Yard leads where they cross the Grand Central. Didn't one visit 9th Avenue lower level? The TM trips are burdened with an overly long lunch hour. But it's all we've got anymore. |

My only hope getting off will be for the June 17th trip. If I can, then I will see you there. If not, then there will be no TM trips for me at least for this year. I'll have to wait till 2007. As far as MOD Trips-they are done with. They were great while they lasted. But the turnouts for each trip were getting lower and lower. The last MOD Trip back on May 1st, 2005 had more photographers than riders. Only 40-50 people paid to ride the train. |
