Probably 2015. I went there to refill a MetroCard or trade in a MetroCard or something.

I last used it as a bus passenger in 2014.

Of course, this was in response to advice to take the bus from West Hempstead to Hempstead, in which case the OP would not have any need to linger there.

I think the Babylon Branch is the closest thing we have to the DC Metro or BART.

If you compare it to BART you can call it the Long Island-Sunrise (highway) Aerial.

How has it been with T/O interaction (if any)? Are you able to fully enjoy the RFW or are you working around open cab doors or unhappy C/Rs (on Metro North they've told me to move away), etc?

By and large, I've had no trouble but since the Empty Yay apparently reads this board and I'm not familiar with every little LIRR operating rule, I don't want to give any detailed descriptions lest I accidentally get train crews be suspended or fired for violating Operating Rule 334-B: Prohibition on the metabolisation of galactose while operating an eastbound train through Lindenhurst on a Tuesday.

You're going to pass up the Walkway over the Hudson for some fast food?

And in addition the most scenic part of the Hudson is Cold Spring to Beacon.

IAWTP. If you can't plan a railfan trip between meals, then pack a lunch.

Based on Google Street View it looks like street access is pretty well blocked by a fence.

There's always the option of spending an hour in Cold Spring eating lunch and taking the next train northward to Pgh.

Gonna do this trip again after 2 years from GCT to Cold Spring and back next week. Quick question: Does Metro North have wifi or phone charging available on the trip yet? I checked the MTA page but didn't see anything about what was offered in the cars. Thanks in advance.

I did a google search on "MetroNorth Wifi" and as of Jan 2021 the answer is no.

It isn't that is wasn't planned to have it, it is just they can't work out all the logistics. Supposedly M8 cars (New Haven lines) were to be equipped with Wifi capability but I guess it never happened.

I think phone charging is available though.

A few years ago a fellow rider tried to get her phone charged and the conductor offered her an outlet. She had problems, but I'm guessing those were related to her phone.

M-8 have Wi-Fi but only for car logistics not for commuters.

If you’re going on the Hudson line I think you’re going to need a portable power pack to charge your phone and there’s no Wi-Fi for customers on metro north anywhere. If you were riding the New Haven line and you were in a M8 coach there are outlets at each seat row.

M8s have two wall outlets at every seat bench.

Only the M8s have outlets at each seat, so no charging unless you get very lucky with a rare M8 for the segment south of Croton-Harmon.
