"So if the conductor demands $10 million, you're obliged to pay $10 million and then go to commuter relations to ask for it back?"You're overcomplicating this: Conductor..."That will be $10 million dollars in onboard service charge & penalty. Passenger..."Im sorry, I can't pay you. I usually don't carry around that kind of cash" Conductor..."Ok, show me some ID, fill out this form & send a bank check for $10 million dollars to Passenger Revenue Accounting within ten days. Remember, 10 days or we'll send you a second notice!" Passenger..."OK Gee Thanks!! Everybody goes home, nobody arrested, no train delay, bill gets torn up, life goes on. See...very simple! |

Pirmann perhaps needed an OTTalk, and maybe then Subchat would never have outlasted Subtalk. sex stopped being free a long time ago Are you one of those anti-family hippies? |

I consider myself a part timer in these parts in terms of jumping in with both feet on a now far too long thread. I still have to decifer the difference between trolling & serious dialogue. Between knowing when to hold 'em & know when to fold'em sorta speak. A flaw in my subchat particapation I freely admitBut I'm learning |

How about a bar with a "two drink minimum?"Exactly! The same principle applies— if you leave sober, you can't be arrested for public drunkenness or for "stealing" two drinks you never ordered or consumed. |

This may be a necropost at this point, but I have officially confirmed two things.(1) If you are at Grand Central buying a ticket from GCT-Fordham, the ticket machines list Fordham as a Harlem and New Haven stop. If you are at Grand Central buying a ticket from GCT-125, the machines list 125 as a stop on all three lines. (2) When a northbound New Haven train stopped at 125th, the automated system on board proceeded to make the following announcement: This station is Harlem 125th Street. This is the train to Stamford. The next station is Fordham. The sole purpose of such an announcement is to alert northbound passengers for 125th and Fordham of their stations. If there were no passengers bound for those stations, such an announcement would be unnecessary. As such, I think we can definitively conclude that it is not a violation of any MTA rule to ride a New Haven train within New York City. |

His evidence also consists of the posted stations at the track at GCT (MVE is the first one) and the human announcements at GCT over the main loudspeakers ("the x:xx Stamford local, first stop Mount Vernon East, is departing from track yy") and on the train before it leaves ("this train stops at Mount Vernon East, Pelham, New Rochelle, ..."). |
