Yes, but they are getting there now, mostly via WHB buses. At Jackson Hts, the difference in running times would only be 4 minutes to Queens Plaza. It may not be worth their while to switch to an express, especially if they are already on an M and headed through 53rd Street and want an E.

Express tracks have 30 TPH, Be hard to shoe horn a RBB service amongst them.

Well, can commuter and subway-esque service run on the same ROW? I suppose if two sets of parallel tracks were in place, sort of like the way the BRT and LIRR co-existed along the Brighton Line.

While I think such a service along SI's North Shore might be more successful, I can't imagine there ever being enough $$ to do this. That's why I say "transit" from Arlington (Port Richmond if the NIMBYs prove too powerful) to St. George and commuter service from Arlington to NYP. Stops at EWR and downtown Newark probably also a good idea.

That MIGHT work, but switching moves would need to be seriously minimized. I can imagine that another re-working of DeKalb would be necessary...

When I travel between Brooklyn and Manhattan, that spot is slow as s*** on the D, N, and R. (fitting letter sequence, almost!!)

Not unless the subway-esque service is operating under FRA regs, and the ROW is not wide enough for 2 sets of tracks. I don't understand why there would be money to do it as 2 separate services but not as 1 service. A through service could kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Rail service within SI to the ferry at 20 min headways, with the same line also collecting anyone working in Newark or midtown to bring them there

4 minutes is still 4 minutes. People will switch to the express just to save those few minutes, it's just the way things go here. I'm not saying to shoehorn the RBB into the express tracks. I'm saying hook them into the local tracks as planned, run local a few stops to Jackson Hts, then hook into the super express tunnel (the one who's ROW along Sunnyside Yard we're seeing preserved in the other thread)

The point would be that the train is made up only on LI bound freight

Not really sure how much freight car shipment accounts for. Can't be all that much really, so not sure why that's being thrown out there.

Not really feasible considering the height difference between the North Shore ROW and the Bayonne Bridge trackway. Also, I've heard rumblings that the ROW on the bridge is no longer usable due to the current raising of the bridge.
