That would be deducible from the pick details that got posted to the horror of a number of people here.I'm not going to try to figure it out but I strongly suspect not. As long as work is going on they aren't going to want a train coming through in each direction every 6 to 10 minutes. That dramatically cuts down on productivity. They'd also need 10 platform conductors to keep foamers from staying on the train at 57th. |

I was thinking though that don't they need to do training runs? So it wouldn't be with the crew who brought the train in, therefore not necessarily deducible from the pick. |

You have it right. Before service begins, all t/o's on the B Division will be required to be qualified from 57th to 96th. Therefore there will be a supplement schedule on the Q. When the ok is given to run trains up there, Q trains will do long relays to 96th with the "student" t/o and the TSS aboard qualifying him/her. |

BTW: This has been the procedure for every extension since I was around. For example, before Parsons/Archer opened, we did long relays on the J from 121 to Parsons/Archer.For the E, in the non rush, we took a train from Kew to PAE. For 21/Queensbridge we took a train in the non rush from CTL and turned back at 21/Qb or Roosevelt Island. We also requalified on the 6th Ave. side of the MannyB leaving from 3 track Pacific St. I guess we turned north of W.4th, in the non rush of course. |

One more thing, IDK if the c/r's will break in because naturally they have to pay the t/o's o/t to break in. They may want to exclude the c/r's because, after all, a black and white striped board is a black and white striped board at any station. And to save money. |

Railfans actually hiding in the train would only be a issue if they used R68s on the (Q) just hide under the seats + dim interior, not so easy to do on a R160, which is what the Q uses 99 percent of the time for years now. However with the Q having the same terminals 24/7 + not sharing Astoria with the N anymore I can see those 68 sets on the N being assigned to the Q. Would make it easier for the Astoria to have the two lines there be 100% NTT. |

I think the 1940's and 1950's Daffy Duck would make a better foamer than Bugs, even though Sam and Daffy weren't usually paired together. Elmer Fudd would also be a good candidate for a foamer. (The 1960's Daffy was much less "daffy" and just plain "nasty.") A good cartoon could also be constructed around Sylvester Jr. dragging his dad onto a train just to see the new trackage, with Sam as a platform conductor. |

There's nowhere to hide on an R160 and the crew might walk through the train upon reaching 96th, so anyone who stays past would be in deep shit (unless it was by accident, and those are usually caught by the guy at the end of the platform looking into the cars as it enters the relay). An R68, it would be easy enough to open one of the quarter cabs and hide inside (not that I am advocating such action, just telling it like it is). |

And in other messages some folks are talking about HOW to actually hide on the trains to bypass being caught. And others are talking about the penalties for being caught. Or the types of trains that might be used, and which are "better" at reducing detection. GUYS - This has been an absolute FUN morning of reading this Transit Forum!! All that is needed is the secret invitation for the "Underground Pant-Less Party" that might - but you know it will be - taking place in an undisclosed brand new subway station on the about to be opened Second Avenue subway time that this time does not have to use a man-hole cover as the entrance. You can go into terminals with bumper blocks a lot faster than they do now and they used to. They just don't have the faith in motormen and/or equipment they used to.And with tail tracks there is no reason they can't enter 96th as fast as any other station. |

At one time, on the IRT, a ‘roadrunner” was the term used for a yard M/M who had qualified for the road between picks and was working the road extra list until the next pick when he could pick a regular road job. I don’’t racall the BMT or IND using that term, however. |

Contractors working on SAS platforms beginning in October may require construction flagging protection IAW NYCT safety rules that govern working on station platforms in proximity to the edge of the platform. |
