About all that's known is that it's off in the woods along the river, cut off from the world and no known ownership. It's past a section of the Saratoga and North Creek tourist railroad which used to be Delaware and Hudson, and none of those guys know much about it either. |

Thanks for sharing this! Interesting to find out what the story is about these railcars. Some of the cars' interior photos remind me of "our own" Mineola up at Branford.Everyone should check out this guy's entire site. Great collections. A number of the albums are of w-a-a-a-y upstate in the Adirondacks area. Beautiful. All of them. His New York state album even has two shots in the subway: 149th in the Bronx. |

That's why I thought this might be interesting to everybody. Everybody except for, or course, our pet kvetch. :)The D&H, and a few other long gone railroads found it to be cheaper to just set out their junk on old, unused trackage than to have it scrapped. You'll find old relics pretty much everywhere in various states of decay. The Saratoga and North Creek railroad certainly would likely have done something with them, but they happened onto better equipment for a song. |

Now, if we could only find an abandoned Composite somewhere in the midwest... or a Hedley Hi-V sold to someone instead of scraped, deep in someone's wooded "back 40."- there is that D-Type section somewhere; upstate or Pennsylvania? Saratoga & North Creek - I never heard of them, but there must be hundreds of these small defunct rr's with colorful histories. Found a book at yardsale that dealt with all those tiny logging rr's deep in upstate NY. Good stuff. |

Private car owners routinely store their equipment on short lines cause the rent is so cheap. There have been strange locomotives and cars sitting at Winslow Jct and Tuckahoe for years now. |

What's up is, as I've posted several times so far, there appears to be nothing "abandoned" about this situation. It's logical and obvious. He compelety missed it or ignored the obvious clues. And when I said it, SelkirkTMO dismissed me because he's not a good judge of who to trust. Now several more people have come along and pointed out to him that he seems to be wrong. He'll likely now state that "he's just the messenger" and he " is only here for fun" and he "doesn't take this place seriously". Essentially he's saying that we should ignore whatever he posts because even he doesn't have any faith in it. |
