I do recall seeing once, and only once, a QT Brightliner. Apparently, they were very rare on the QT. The Brightliners were used on southern division expresses, M, N, Q, and T, and on the TT locals. |

That went against the trend used on the IRT, where newer cars were used on the local and older cars such as the Low V were used on express. |

Actually, there was/is sense to that much. The Low Vs had poorer acceleration than the SMEEs, and hence less time lost having them make less stops. I came to know the subway after they were gone, though, but I do remember the R17s being used on expresses and newer trains, I think the R33s, being used on the Lex Local. As for the BMT, the R27/30s came in first, and were used on the locals, having better acceleration than the pre-war cars. The Brightliners then took over where the pre-wars were still around, on the expresses. |

Doing that eliminated 2 terminals- Bay Parkway and 2nd Avenue. If you think about it, what really happened what that the old M was eliminated, the V was extended to metropolitan Ave, and re-named the M. In early 2010, the plan was acutally to call this route the V. |

As a bonus, I get to watch people run up and down the stairs at Essex, depending on whether on M or an uptown F comes in. Sometimes I even see people cooperate, flagging to the people on the stairs which train is coming in. |
