When the N was first routed to CTl, it used whatever Jamaica Yd supplied which included R-32s, 46s and even 44s. All N consists were 8 cars regardless of the car type. Initially, all Canal and Whitehall dropouts were required to be 8 X 60 foot cars due to the signal configuration at Canal St requiring PM Whl put ins to change ends in the middle track. Once a reverse home signal was installed on the S/B lcl track N/O Canal, Whl put ins could enter the lcl tk in Canal station and change ends there to go to Whl. |
