The image wouldn't load for me. I had to go here. BTW, why in the same document do they switch from cardinal to ordinal numbers for numbered streets? They should pick one convention and stick with it.

Why not upper IRT from TS-42 to 168 Street, plus take out all of Lenox? Everyone is in agreement with the Broadway line in Manhattan.

Just as I suggested in a Facebook post, Queens Blvd inner and Concourse lines.

Um....

You're talking about the single page in the photo, right? "207 St" is a station. "100th Street" is not a station. See the difference?

I'm already thinking of how they would route these services...

Broadway BMT
(B) trains operate between Coney Island and Queens Plaza via Brighton/6th Avenue Local.

(N) trains run in two sections: between Astoria and Queensboro Plaza, and between 36th Street and Coney Island.

* Queens passengers may use walking transfer between Queensboro Plaza (N)(7) and Queens Plaza (B)(E) stations, or transfer to the (7) at Queensboro Plaza, then between the (7) and the (B) at either Court Square or 5th Avenue.

* Brooklyn passengers can transfer to the (D) at 36th Street.

(Q) trains replaced by (B) trains in Brooklyn.

(R) trains start Bay Ridge shuttle service early.

Washington Heights IND
Shuttle bus along Fort Washington Avenue to serve 175th, 181st, and 190th. Passengers for Dyckman and 207th are directed to the (1) train.

Concourse IND
Shuttle bus operates between 205th Street and the Bedford Park Blvd (4) station. Concourse line passengers are directed to use nearby (4) train stations.

Inner Queens IND
(F) trains operate in two sections: Between Coney Island and 21st Street-Queensbridge, and between Roosevelt Avenue and 179th Street.

(E) trains operate in two sections: Between World Trade Center and 23rd Street-Ely and between 71-Continental and Jamaica Center.

Use the (7) and (F) to travel between the two sections.

Shuttle bus would operate from the Victor Moore Bus Terminal (Q47 lane), via Broadway to 31st Street, which feeds into Northern Boulevard, then Jackson Avenue, then via 44th Drive and 21st Street to the Queensbridge station.

* Passengers for 36th Street are directed to use the nearby 39th Avenue (N) station.

* Passengers traveling from Manhattan to points east of the Roosevelt Avenue station are encouraged to board the (7) train in Manhattan.

Lexington IRT
(4) and (6) trains operate in two sections: Between North Terminal and 125th Street, and between Grand Central and South Terminal.

Extra M101 LTD service operates overnight between 42nd and 125th Streets.

The problem with the Wash Hts and Concourse IND is that the #1 IRT station sat Dyckman and 207 St are quite a walking distance from the corresponding a Line stations as are most of the Concourse Line stations from the #4 IRT.

The TA has closed the #1 line north of 168th St. on numerous weekends and told people who want the Dyckman St. and 207th St. stations to walk to the A line, so I guess they wouldn't have a problem doing the reverse. It's four blocks, which is probably about the limit of how far they can reasonably tell people to simply walk.

I can't see a (B) train running at night. What I expect for the Broadway BMT closure:

(N) - Runs in two sections, Ditmars Blvd. to Queensboro Plaza and Coney Island to Pacific St. Express all night between 59th St. and Pacific St., relays north of Pacific (or Atlantic Ave./Barclays Center now).

(Q) - Runs between Coney Island and Atlantic Ave.

(R) - Via Manhattan Bridge, 6th Ave. and 53rd St. between DeKalb Ave. and Queens Plaza. Runs all night. Uses switches just north of W 4th St. to switch between express and local tracks on 6th Ave.

(D) - Runs local on 4th Ave. starting at 10 PM (the beginning of the work). Shares tracks with the (R) between 36th St. and W 4th St.

As for the Queens Blvd. closure, the (E) runs local at night, while the (F) runs express, so I expect it would be the (E) running between Jamaica Center and Roosevelt Ave., and the (F) (Queens portion) running only between 179th St. and 71st Ave., otherwise as was said.

Extra M101 LTD service operates overnight between 42nd and 125th Streets.

--------------

This would mean in the Bronx, that the #2 line and for folks closer to western side of the Bronx, the D-train will end up carrying huge amounts of riders. This does not sound like "just an extra 20 minutes of travel time.

Nor the provision of M101 LTD service, and hopefully extra all night long M101 local buses - sound like "just an extra 20 minutes of travel time.

Just another step along the way in turning the subways and transit into something that can not be depended upon.

In regards to Broadway BMT Fastrack....

(Q): Agree (B) is not going to be running at nights and your (Q) plan is the common MTA playbook for Brighton.

(R): After 10pm shuttle service 36 St - 95 St, northbound running express;(M) covers Queens Blvd until 12am and (E) with late night. When the 6 Av Fastrack was in effect, Queens Bl local had no M service and R was running local on its own. So role reversal shouldn't be a problem.

(N): Agree as your plan

In terms of Queens Blvd,

(E) and (F) in Queens will run between Roosevelt and Jamaica Center or 179 ST via Local.

(7) and possible busitution (local) will provide alternative service to nearby QB Local stops between Court Sq and Roosevelt Av

Express busitution will provide stops at 21 St - Queensbridge and Roosevelt Av

In Manhattan: no (E) service replace by (A) 8 Av line, (D) 7 Av Station, and (N) 59 St for 5 Av and Lexington Av, (F) QB line service

(R): service ends at 10pm north of 36 St (Shuttle service begins), (N) 4 Av local via Whitehall begins. *D trains also run local along 4 Av line

(F): terminates 21 St - Queensbridge. transfer for express shuttle bus

For northbound trains to terminate at Grand Central, they would have to relay north of the station and then come back south.

Fully aware of that. The document linked elsewhere in the thread indicated that the Lexington line would be closed between 45th and 100th Streets. That would certainly allow northbound trains to relay north of Grand Central.

Hmm interesting...

But they wouldnt dare do Fastrack too often on the Upper Lex would they? Or maybe theyll split it up and do Fastrack on the upper level and lower level separately? 45th Street to 100th Street covers the length of the split-level portion of the Lex.

The problem with terminating the Q at Atlantic is that it funnels all passenger traffic, both for 6th Avenue and Broadway, onto the D, 2, and 4 trains. Given that the D would pass through DeKalb anyway, why not send a Brighton service to assist with the load and ease confusion at Atlantic? By sending the Brighton service into Manhattan, only those who would need the Broadway line south of 14th Street would need to transfer to the 4. As for Prince Street and 23rd through 49th Streets, changing trains won't be necessary, since the Broadway Line station is within walking distance of the 6th Avenue station. That way, Brighton Line passengers have, at most, a two-seat ride to Broadway Line neighborhoods.

As for the service label, Dyre Dan has a point. We've already seen that the R160s have programs for "via 6th Avenue" service, so I don't really mind having the Orange Q coming back for a few nights.

I could also see cutting the Q so that it ends at 57th/6th (keeping through service on the F) instead of Queens Plaza. Anyone who needs the N shuttle would just need to take the 7 at 42nd Street.

Here's how I handle it for the Broadway line FASTRACK only:

The (N) runs in two sections:
Ditmars-Astoria to Queensboro Plaza
Court Street-Coney Island (there is a crossover just past Metrotech that could be used so Court can be the terminal).

The (Q) is shortened to five-car, 300' trains and operates via the Nassau Street line and then Montauge Tunnel from Essex Street-DeKalb Avenue before resuming regular route (the actual old route of the (M)).

The (R) runs as an extended shuttle to Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center.

The (M) runs all night to take pressure off the (F) on 6th Avenue and runs it's daytime route to 71st-Continental ((Q) riders can switch to the (F) or (M) at Essex for 6th Avenue).

(R) train shuttle from 95 street to 59 street.
(N) train run from Coney Island to Atlantic Ave-Barclay Center. (N) run local to 36 street then switch to express to Atlantic Avenue and terminate there (crossover is right outside the station)
(D) train run local to Manhattan
(Q) train run Coney Island to Whitehall Street.
(B) run all night to 57 street with less TPH to assist the load since Broadway is about 1 to 3 blocks away in Manhattan.

The weird part about an Upper Lexington Avenue Fast-Track operation is that the express tracks are usually not used every night of the week during the midnight hours for the past several years/decades.

During the midnight hours both #4 and #6 trains make all local stops, and it has been this way for years (due to Rudy G.).

In addition, there have been in the past G.O.'s where say all trains are local downtown, but express uptown, or vice-versa. Which makes one wonder about the extra work that would be done if there was no train traffic at all during those four nights of the usual Fast Track operation. Does it have something to do with the power being off?

My version assumes Whitehall Street is out as an option, that's why I have the (Q) shortened to five cars and shifted to the Nassau Street line to Essex Street while I have the (N) to Court Street. No matter what, I would have the (R) as an extended shuttle to Atlantic Avenue.

Exactly. I think everyone is thinking FastTrack starts at 9pm.It is a little bit after 10pm that is why there is no need for an Orange Q or a B train after 10pm. We have seen the Q terminate at Atlantic so many times with late night G.Os or rarely weekend G.O.s so I don't think it will be issue when it happends.
