But I have other things on my mind.I was also surprised I didn't remember it after I was reminded. It sounds crazy but it's something that happens when you get older. Often it is easier to recollect something from many years ago than something from yesterday. Just wait a few years and you will see what I mean. |

That's pretty much true of many people. Your second paragraph-- while it would work, it could also take you out of the way considerably. The signs are not there for the people that are there everyday, but as I said the newcomers and that's why they need to be clear. I was once in Boston and was looking for Commonwealth Avenue. I was on a street that I thought was Commonwealth but drove a mile without seeing a single sign for it. So I pulled over and asked someone. He told me that it was Commonwealth. So I asked him why there was a sign every block for all the little streets but none for Commonwealth? He said that no signs were necessary for such a main street because everyone knew it was Commonwealth. It was the little streets they needed the signs for. Interesting philosophy. Signs only for the locals. Guess tourists didn't matter to them. |

I shouldn't even respond to someone who talks to people the way you do. You make it so tempting to insult you back because you really deserve it.First of all only one person said there was an elevator. I didn't believe him until someone else kindly explained very clearly where the ramp was because without that ramp, the elevator that was described could not be used to get to the passageway. And yes, that is precisely why you build escalators, so people wouldn't have to walk stairs. You usually don't build them for a single flight but only for two flights or more. You are so smart so tell me what is the "scientific" reason you build them? There is nothing "scientific" about it. Further, Atlantic is a heavily used station, and I still maintain that if it were located in Manhattan, it would have had one. |

I think their point in signing the express roadway as Holland Tunnel/New York City is that they don't really want people using the express roadway and then switching over. I guess the phantom interchange with Route 75 (which leads to Elizabeth Avenue/Peddie St/Runyon St in Newark) doesn't count. |

I was just saying that if I had never been there before and it was nighttime or foggy or a heavy downpour and there were no parked cars to guide me, it was conceivable that someone not from the area may have listened. (There are places where a road is divided and it is only one direction because the road splits off in two. Then some here said that all you have to do is look at the one-way or Do Not Enter signs and I responded that there weren't any. Then you know who accused me of not seeing them and that I was a poor driver. |

You think it was my fault for getting lost in DC? The signage is horrible there. One time I needed K Street SW. I was only a quarter-mile away and couldn't figure out how to get there from the map because the street was cut up into so many pieces. So I asked a cop. He had to radio to get me directions. It was like a maze only one way to get to the part of the street I needed. It required about a dozen turns and that's not exaggerating. I had to write everything down. It was too much to remember. |

It still depends on traffic and if the drivers will let you in. Most times they do but occasionally there will be a time when everyone is traveling close together and everyone will ignore your signal or start speeding up when they see it. I've had this happen for almost a quarter-mile. If I know a split is coming I usually try to be in the correct lane well in advance of the first signage notification. |
