Even with the growth, prior to Chrystie, the Astoria Line ran with 6 car trains of 60 footers on a 12 min midday headway (the BMT did cut midday) and post Chrystie they still ran with 8 X 60 Ft car trains on a 10 min headway. |

There will be no R-62s running in the B division. Take that to the bank. There will also not be any car shortage in 2016. Take that to the bank.It's very simple. Increase the maintenance window from, say 10,000 miles to 11,000 or 12,000 miles and you have several extra trains a day not out of service for maintenance. The tests were done 2 years ago using the R-44s as the test subjects. They passed the test and the expanded inspection windows can and will be implemented to save $$$ and improve car availability. |

The D's weighed between 210,000 and 213,000 so I would guess would make them heavier but the real issue was axle weight load. The Ds had only 8 axles to 12 for other 3 car sets. That's why the Ds did so much more rail and roadbed damage than other cars. |

That was definitely the case. From what I was told, the Ds had the heaviest axle loading of any cars on the system. Interestingly, my source also maintained that the Myrtle Av el between Bway and Bridge St would have been able to support the Ds if they had been able to fit there. |
